North Goa District Issues Ban on Swimming & Bathing in Natural Water Bodies

Panaji / North Goa | July 2025 — In a proactive step toward ensuring public safety during the monsoon season, the District Magistrate of North Goa has imposed a blanket ban on all swimming, bathing, or entering of natural water bodies within the district. This includes waterfalls, abandoned quarries, rivers, ponds, and lakes.

The directive comes amidst rising concerns over drowning incidents and unpredictable water levels during the rains. The decision applies to both residents and tourists, with local enforcement authorities tasked with implementing the restrictions strictly.

“This is a preventive and precautionary measure to avoid any tragic incidents during the monsoon,” an official noted.

Authorities have advised adventure seekers and locals to refrain from venturing into such areas and to heed official signage and advisories placed across popular spots.

📌 Enforcement: Local police, forest officials, and district administration teams will monitor sensitive areas
📅 Period: Effective immediately until further notice
