Panaji, Goa | July 11, 2025 — The capital city of Goa, Panaji, has achieved a historic milestone by winning the Presidential Award at the Swachh Survekshan 2024, India’s largest annual cleanliness and sanitation survey.
The award will be presented to Mayor Rohit Monserrate and City Commissioner Clen Madeira by the President of India at a formal ceremony on July 17 in New Delhi.
This honour recognises Panaji’s sustained excellence in urban sanitation, waste management, public hygiene, and civic participation under the Swachh Bharat Mission. The city’s efforts in community-led waste segregation, composting initiatives, cleanliness drives, and smart sanitation infrastructure contributed significantly to this accolade.
Panaji has consistently ranked among top-performing cities in past Swachh Survekshan editions. The 2024 award signals a renewed commitment to environmental sustainability, civic pride, and innovation in urban governance.
