Julian McMahon, Iconic Star of ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Nip/Tuck,’ Dies at 56

Hollywood and fans across the world are mourning the loss of Julian McMahon, the charismatic Australian actor whose talent and screen presence brought unforgettable characters to life. McMahon passed away at the age of 56, after a battle with cancer, his family confirmed. He died peacefully on Wednesday in Clearwater, Florida, surrounded by loved ones.

His wife, Kelly McMahon, shared the heartbreaking news with a touching tribute:

“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer. Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans.”

“His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible. We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

Born on July 27, 1968, in Sydney, Julian McMahon was the son of former Australian Prime Minister Billy McMahon. He started his career in modeling before moving into Australian television with roles in The Power, The Passion and Home and Away.

After relocating to the United States, McMahon found critical acclaim in the early 2000s with his groundbreaking role as Dr. Christian Troy in Nip/Tuck—a complex, sharp-tongued plastic surgeon in the hit FX drama that earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

But it was in 2005 that McMahon achieved global recognition when he portrayed Dr Doom, the iconic Marvel villain, in Fantastic Four and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. His performance left a lasting impression on comic book fans, who appreciated his sinister charm and imposing screen presence.

He most recently appeared in the film ‘The Surfer’, opposite Nicolas Cage.

Julian McMahon was married three times, including to Dannii Minogue and Brooke Burns, with whom he shared a daughter, Madison McMahon. Despite his celebrity status, McMahon was known to be private and grounded, often crediting his family for keeping him balanced.
