Bengaluru, July 3, 2025 — There’s light at the end of the metro tunnel for Bengaluru commuters! The long-anticipated Namma Metro Yellow Line is poised to open by early August, bringing much-needed relief to one of India’s most traffic-choked cities.
Stretching 19.15 kilometers, the Yellow Line will run from RV Road in the north to Bommasandra in the south, connecting 16 stations along the route. Once operational, the corridor is expected to serve lakhs of daily commuters, easing traffic congestion along major IT and industrial corridors.
🛤️ Yellow Line Highlights:
- Length: 19.15 km
- Stations: 16, including key hubs like Silk Board, HSR Layout, Electronic City
- Terminals: RV Road ↔️ Bommasandra
- Interchange: At Jayadeva with the Pink Line
- Operator: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL)
🚇 What It Means for Commuters
The Yellow Line is expected to drastically reduce travel times between South Bengaluru and major IT zones like Electronic City and Bommasandra Industrial Area. With seamless connectivity at Jayadeva Interchange Station—one of the city’s biggest metro hubs—commuters can easily shift between the Yellow and Pink Lines.
“All civil work has been completed, and safety trials are in their final phase. Once we receive clearance from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), operations can begin,” a senior BMRCL official confirmed.
🌱 Green Commute, Smart City
Apart from easing daily traffic woes, the Yellow Line aligns with Bengaluru’s broader urban mobility goals — promoting eco-friendly public transport, reducing carbon emissions, and decongesting major arterial roads like Hosur Road.
The line also improves access to key residential and industrial areas, thereby boosting real estate and commercial activity along the route.
