Nidhi Tewari Appointed as Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi


In a significant development, Nidhi Tewari, a 2014-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, has been appointed as the next Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to an official order released by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Tewari’s appointment is effective immediately. She will be the third person to hold this position, after Vivek Kumar and Hardik Satishchandra Shah.

Tewari, who hails from Mehmurganj in Varanasi, has had a distinguished career in the Indian Foreign Service. She secured the 96th rank in the Union Public Services Examination and began her career as an Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax) in Varanasi.

Prior to her appointment as Private Secretary, Tewari was serving as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). She has also worked in the Ministry of External Affairs, handling critical areas such as foreign affairs, security, and atomic energy.

As Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, Tewari will be responsible for managing key administrative tasks, coordinating with government departments, and handling matters related to External Affairs, Atomic Energy, Security Affairs, and the state of Rajasthan.

This appointment is seen as a significant development in the PMO, and Tewari’s expertise in foreign affairs and security is expected to be a valuable asset to the Prime Minister’s team
