In a remarkable achievement, Bishop Aleixo Dias, the Bishop Emeritus of Port Blair, has completed 40 illustrious years as a bishop. This milestone marks a significant chapter in the life of Bishop Dias, who has dedicated four decades to serving the Lord and the Catholic community.

A Humble Beginning

Born on August 5, 1944, in Calanguete, Goa, Bishop Dias was ordained as a priest on December 7, 1971. His early years as a priest were marked by a deep commitment to his faith and a passion for serving others.

A New Chapter: Bishop of Port Blair

On January 20, 1985, Bishop Dias was ordained as the first Bishop of Port Blair, a diocese that encompasses the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. At just 39 years old, he became one of the youngest bishops in India.
