India and Saudi Arabia Sign Haj Agreement 2025, Securing Quota for 1,75,025 Pilgrims


In a significant development, India and Saudi Arabia have signed the Haj Agreement 2025, securing a quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims from India for the upcoming Haj season. The agreement was signed by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, in Jeddah.

The signing of the agreement marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between India and Saudi Arabia, particularly in the context of Haj pilgrimage. The agreement ensures that a large number of Indian pilgrims will be able to perform the Haj pilgrimage in 2025.

Quota Distribution

The quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims has been distributed between the Haj Committee of India (HCoI) and Haj Group Organisers (HGOs) in a 70:30 ratio. This means that 70% of the quota, which is 1,22,518 pilgrims, will be handled by HCoI, while the remaining 30%, or 52,507 pilgrims, will be allocated to HGOs.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju’s Visit to Saudi Arabia

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju engaged in several high-level meetings with Saudi Arabian officials. In Riyadh, he met with Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport & Logistic Services, to discuss potential collaborations in transport and logistics sectors between the two nations.

The meeting between Minister Rijiju and Minister Al-Jasser explored opportunities for cooperation in areas such as transportation, logistics, and infrastructure development. The two ministers also discussed ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment between India and Saudi Arabia.
