His Family : Born to Mrs. Laxmibai & Mr. Jaivant Sardesai. His Father served as a Scientist/ Entomologist with United Nations. His two siblings : Savita Kerkar and Late Madhavi Sardesai.

MLA Vijai is married to Usha Sardesai and they have a daughter named Urvi.

Sardesai has a degree in Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

He began his career by being an active member in the Student Politics of Goa where went on to becomes the Chairman of the Goa University Students Council.
