Goa is known for it’s Sun, Sand and Sea and beautiful landscapes which made it an ideal location for Filmmakers across the globe to come down to Goa and shot at their ideal locations.
Goa has over the years been a part of several movies which also went on to win several laurels. Here in the #AllycaralFridayFeature, today we have listed down top 5 films which were shot in Goa, There are several others but here’s our pick :
1. Saat Hindustani (1969)
Saat Hindustani (English: Seven Indians) is a 1970 Indian film, written and directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. The film portrays the heroic story of Seven Indians who came from different parts of the country and attempted to liberate Goa from the Portuguese colonial rule. The Film also marks the debut of Shahenshah of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan.
2. Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa ( 1994)
Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is a 1994 Indian Hindi romantic coming-of-age comedy film directed by Kundan Shah, and starring Shah Rukh Khan. This witnessed a fine performance by Shahrukh Khan for which he even won the Filmfare Critics award for the best performance. The Film was shot at locations like the Colva beach, Aguada Fort and the ruins of St. Augustine Towers.
3. Dil Chahta Hain (2001)
Dil Chahta Hai (transl. The Heart Wants) is a romantic drama film which marks the directorial debut of Farhan Akhtar as well as his debut as a writer. The film stars Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni and Dimple Kapadia, the film is set in present-day urban Mumbai and Sydney, and focuses on a major period of transition in the romantic lives of three college-graduate friends. The film has a scene shot at the Chapora Fort which several tourist till date refer to as Dil Chahta Hain Spot.
4. The Golmaal Series (2006-2010)
The love of Rohit Shetty for Goa is not been hidden. The Director’s Golmaal Series is the perfect example where almost the entire movie is either set or shot in Goa. The Golmaal Series revolves around the lives of four friends and their antics, always leading to a dramatic end. Some of the locations of this movie series include the old GMC Complex in Panaji, Fort Aguada and Dona Paula.
5. Dear Zindagi (2016)
The movie centeres on on a budding cinematographer named Kaira, who is discontented with her life and meets Dr. Jehangir, a free-spirited psychologist who helps her to gain a new perspective on her life. The Film shows the iconic Parra road that’s surrounded by Coconut Trees on either side to the humble Goan village, Salvador Do Mundo and Morjim beach, the film travels to many parts of North Goa.
